> The innovation of Transpacific’s industrial services team is helping emergency services to fight bushfires.

When Transpacific’s industrial services team gave a presentation to a group of fire fighters in Mount Gambier in Victoria, it sparked the thinking for a new project.

“After that presentation, we were approached and asked if we could supply some plastic bladders that aerial fire fighters could use to store water during the fire fighting process,” Transpacific’s Manager National Emergency Response, Gary Davoren said.
Transpacific supplied four 100,000 litre bladders used by an aircraft procured by the Victorian Government to fight last summer’s bushfires.

The DC-10 aircraft, which can carry up to 45,000 litres of water used the Transpacific bladders to replenish its water load during the summer-season fire fighting process.

The bladders were used in the place of tanker trucks to provide a faster, more efficient, fly-in fly-out fire fighting service.

“The tanker trucks came in, they filled the bladders and then the bladders filled the plane,” Gary said.

This process eliminated the need for the plane to wait for the tanker trucks to be re-filled with water.

“The fact that Transpacific was able to provide an immediate solution to the Victorian Government’s needs is a testament to the creativity and innovation of the Transpacific industrial services team, headed up by Peter Salmon.”

“We had the equipment our client needed and we were willing and able to put it to use as soon as they needed it.”

Transpacific provides plastic bladders for a range of water storage projects including general water plant shut-down work.
