Organic waste processing and advanced waste technology (AWT)

> Cleanaway offers a range of advanced waste technology (AWT) solutions for processing source separated organics (primarily food and green waste), as well as other organic wastes such as grease trap and biosolids and municipal solid waste (MSW).

We can provide a range of proven organics processing technologies that have an inherently low odour risk, and can also tailor designs for particularly odour sensitive locations. We have the capability to deliver MSW mechanical pre sort systems and refining (removing residual contaminants) of the final compost.

Our focus is on: -

  • Understanding customer and community needs
  • Offering simple, robust and proven technologies
  • Tailoring project solutions specific to the needs of customers

BEKON Dry Anaerobic Digestion
BEKON plants provide reliable, stable, low odour digestion, yielding methane which may be used as natural gas or used to run generators to produce electricity. BEKON also produces a digestate which can be used to produce compost or refuse derived fuel (RDF). BEKON is modular and highly scalable for any tonnage range.

Gore Cover™ composting
Certified in Europe as an enclosed system, Gore’s specially designed cover system provides a low energy consumption composting system which produces quality compost. Gore’s efficient aeration system ensures methane and odours are not produced. Consistent high temperatures eliminate pathogenic organisms and render weed seeds unviable.

Cleanaway Tunnel composting
Built in conjunction with Living Earth Limited, Cleanaway’s tunnel composting technology provides a robust system for customers seeking a reliable, traditional tunnel composting solution.

Other Advanced Waste Technologies
We continually monitor other green energy producing technologies such as high temperature gasification of wastes. Whilst some refinement is still required for these technologies to be viewed as cost effective and reliable as our current AWTs, they are certain to be part of future total waste and recycling solutions offered by the company.

We also have the capability to produce safe refuse derived fuels (RDFs) from municipal, commercial and industrial wastes that are suitable for the production of green electricity.

We pride ourselves on producing quality assured compost and fertilisers that are supplied to a variety of markets in horticulture, agriculture, landscaping and site reclamation. We are committed to the beneficial land application of all recycled organics.
